I love Frida Kahlo. She is the ultimate cultural icon. In this image, she is dressed in native dress with native jewelry. I put flowers and a moth on her head to symbolize her integration of the natural world in her writings and art.
I drew the images onto linoleum, carved out the negative space, inked up the raised area and printed it onto printing paper. I then filled in the images with watercolor and gouache.
